...or make the Captain Mark.
Apparently after much soul searching and with the support of family and friends, Captain Mark Kelly, husband of Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford, has decided to continue with commanding the upcoming flight of the space shuttle Endeavour.
Before I say what I'm going to say, I'll begin by conceding that Capt. Kelly, a veteran of three previous shuttle flights, must be a very dedicated and courageous man, and we need people like him in our space program. There.
Dear Capt. Kelly,
Your wife has been shot through the head. We have all heard reports that she is making a remarkable recovery, but clearly she has a long way to go. There is no way I'd leave my wife under such circumstances, and you should definitely not. I know the space program means a lot to you and you've worked hard, but your wife faces a very difficult recovery at best. And you're voluntarily embarking on a mission that could see you dead. It is the wrong decision, and I can't help but feel that it is a somewhat self-centered one. I hope you will not regret it, but more importantly, I hope your wife does not either. It's just a really lousy thing to do, Man, come on!
"Tell my wife I love her very much, she knows..."
